July’s Record Club: OPPORTUNITY KNOCKED

GRCOpportunityKnocked

You may not know it, but Glossop Record Club is a hotbed of musical talent. We’re not talking about the records that we listen to each month. No. We’re talking about the folk who bring the records!

It turns out many of us have been in bands or made music over the years. And many still do. Glossop is the hometown of C86 and Creation Records legends The Bodines and the recently reformed purveyors of power pop The Trend, not to mention Steve Roberts, Quiet Loner, Shield Patterns, Rhys Bloodjoy and Stickboy among others. Plus there are our friends from further afield like Lippy Kid.

So if you’ve ever been in a band or made your own music, recorded a demo, self-released a single or album or even landed a record deal, this night is for you!

If you have some sort of recorded evidence of your musical endeavours, dig them out to share at this special record club session (along with any photos, posters or other mementoes you might have) and tell us about the time ‘Opportunity Knocked’.

We’ll try and cater for all formats – vinyl, cassette, mini disc and for one night only… CD!!! But so I know what to expect – and if you have any unusual formats – please let me know in the ‘format chooser’ below what you’ll be bringing, and get in touch if it’s some weird format.
