December’s Record Club: CHRISTMAS SOCIAL

XmasSocial2016.jpg

On Thursday 8th December, it’s our second Glossop Record Club CHRISTMAS SOCIAL.

Kicking off at 8pm at Glossop Labour Club, it’s our end-of-year blow out – a chance to get together, have a chat over a pint about music and put the world to rights. Well, maybe not that last bit.

Of course, vinyl will be at the heart of the night with the team from ALL FM’s Charity Shop Classics on hand to spin some of their favourite charity shop finds throughout the evening. Feel free to bring down any records you want to get onto the turntable too.

And as it’s Christmas, we’ll also have a bit of fun with a music quiz and Secret Santa.

If you want to take part in Secret Santa, you’ve gotta give to receive! Here’s how it’ll work:

  1. Choose a record, ideally an LP, maybe from a charity shop, a secondhand shop or even a spare from your own collection. Don’t spend more than a fiver.
  2. Don’t just get any old tat! It has to be something you wouldn’t mind having yourself. And please check that the record is in good condition. We don’t want any damaged styli!
  3. Wrap it up, bring it with you to record club and pop it in the Secret Santa record box.
  4. If you’ve put a record in, that means you’ll get one back! We’ll do the draw before the end of the session.

Easy! If it’s not clear, just get in touch.

And don’t forget, there’s a Glossopdale Foodbank collection point at the labour club, so please bring along a food donation if you can. More details here: http://glossopdalefoodbank.info/how-to-help/donate/

So. That’s a music quiz. Secret Santa. Charity Shop Classics DJ set. Bring Your Own Vinyl. Beer. And you!

See you there.

Gizeh Records: records played

Big thanks to Rich from Gizeh Records and Claire from Shield Patterns for a great session. It’s rare that we have both label owner and artist as a guest to discuss their work. A fascinating insight into how’s where’s and why’s of setting up and running an independent record label, and of course some great music too.
