Glossop Record Club returns after a summer break for what is not only our 1st birthday, but also our first venture into film, with a screening of MADE IN SHEFFIELD by film-maker Eve Wood on Thursday 11th September.
The first of three documentaries Eve has made about the Sheffield music scene (the other being the two-part The Beat Is The Law), it explores the city’s music scene of the late 70s and early 80s and the birth of electronic pop, featuring interviews and music from The Human League, ABC, Heaven 17, Cabaret Voltaire, Pulp, Artery, 2.3 and many others. Read more about the film here and watch the trailer below.
Eve herself will join us on the evening to introduce and talk about the film.
We’ll also be playing a ‘Made In Sheffield’ mixtape, from cassette (!!!) on a vintage Sanyo personal casssette player (assuming it still works when I dig it out of the loft) and of course we’ll be spinning a few Sheffield records along the way.
In the meantime, have a listen to this ‘Made In Sheffield’ mix on 8tracks to give you a taster of what to expect on the night. Featuring 2.3, ABC, Artery, Cabaret Voltaire, Clock DVA, Comsat Angels, Heaven 17, The Human League, I’m So Hollow, Pulp, The Future and Vice Versa.
