January’s Record Club: FLEETWOOD MAC’S RUMOURS

grc_jan2020.jpg

Glossop Record Club is back on Thursday 9th January for the first of our new ‘Classic Album‘ sessions, playing Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours on vinyl and in full.

Released in 1977, it went on to become one of the biggest-selling albums of all time and has been an almost permanent fixture of ‘best albums’ lists ever since. We’ll briefly explore the band’s origins in the British blues boom of the late 1960s, their ever-changing lineup and the making of the album, before we play it in full.

Doors open at 8pm and the music kicks off at 8.30pm.

FLEETWOOD MAC’S RUMOURS
Thursday 9th January 2020
Glossop Labour Club, Chapel Street, Glossop, SK13 8AT
FREE ADMISSION

Established 2013, Glossop Record Club is the monthly vinyl-listening session which puts the music first. Have a look here to find out more about what we do and our past sessions.

And here’s a heads-up about February’s session, when you’ll get the chance to play one record, and one record only – the song that was number 1 in the UK singles chart on the day you were born!

Find out what it was here officialcharts.com/archive/ and if you were born before November 1952, we’ll use this chart instead popmusichistory.co.uk/sheet-music.

It doesn’t matter if it’s from the original single, a reissue, on an LP or compilation, so long as it’s on vinyl.

If you need any help tracking down a copy of the song to play, get in touch and we’ll see what we can do.

It’ll be a lot of fun, so we hope you can join us.

We’re also busy with radio stuff this month too! Alongside our regular show on Radio Free Matlock (Tuesday 17th December, 8pm), which this month is a round up of some of our fave tracks of the 2010s plus a few listener suggestions, we’ll be broadcasting LIVE on election night (when it SHOULD be record club, but the labour club will be otherwise occupied). To listen, just click this link at 8pm on Thursday 12th December, and if you have any shout outs or songs or artists you’d like to hear, let us know on Twitter or Facebook and we’ll see what we can do. They don’t have to be political songs! Just so you know.
