Glossop Record Club is back on Thursday 14th March for TRANS-EUROPE MUSICAL EXPRESS.
“What’s all that about?” you may ask. Well, the aim will be to play as many different tracks from as many different European countries as possible. And that’s where you, dear record clubber, can play your part.
From French chanson to German kosmische, Italian house to Austrian oompah, Scandi pop to Liechtensteinian death metal, get digging through your collections and bring along music of a European origin to play.
For our purposes, the UK and Ireland are excluded, UNLESS it’s a British or Irish artist with a particular release recorded in Europe. David Bowie and Depeche Mode in Berlin? Yes! T.Rex and Elton John in France? Why not! Led Zeppelin in Stockholm? Maybe not… The same rule applies for acts from non-European countries. So that’s good news for Nick Cave, Donna Summer and Iggy Pop.
I’m sure you get the idea.
One more thing. It’s geographical, not political, so leave your politics at the door and enter a neutral zone. For one night only we’ll be like Switzerland, but without the Toblerones and bank accounts.
See you there!
