May 2023: ABBA – The Visitors

Our 10th anniversary sessions continue on Thursday 11th May – the month of Eurovision – with a night dedicated to ABBA.

We’ll be playing their 1981 album The Visitors on vinyl and in full, which for 40 years, was their final studio album (until the release of Voyage in 2021) and was a departure from the group’s earlier work, featuring a darker, more introspective tone.

Including the hit singles “One of Us” and “Head Over Heels” plus fan favourite “Slipping Through My Fingers”, it’s title track, “The Visitors,” is widely regarded as one of the band’s most haunting songs, with its eerie synths and lyrics that touch on themes of surveillance and isolation. With its innovative production and emotional depth setting it apart from the group’s earlier work, the album remains a testament to ABBA’s enduring legacy and the group’s willingness to take creative risks and explore new musical territory.

We’ll also be playing a selection of tracks from the darker side of ABBA and we’ll have time to throw in a few of the big hits along the way.

Doors 8pm, music starts at 8.30. See you there!
