Who says Record Club is all about old stuff?! For our first session of 2015, we boldly go where Glossop Record Club hasn’t gone before… to the 21st century! Join us on Thursday 8th January for an evening of music released since the year 2000. New Year. New music (well, newer than usual anyway).
We’ll also be joined by Richard Knox, founder of ‘fiercely DIY’ Manchester-based independent label Gizeh Records and one half of the band Shield Patterns, to talk about running a label that puts vinyl at the heart of what it does and play a few records too.
So, what are the 21st Century Sounds? Well, with the help of Brett, Gavin, Jim and Steve, we’ve put together a list of fifteen 21st Century albums mostly drawn from independent labels and by artists who have emerged since 2000, and the one that gets the most votes in the poll is the one we’ll play in full.
To help you choose, check out this playlist or click on the one you want to hear from the list below.
And if you have any 21st Century Sounds on vinyl you’d like to share, bring them along for a spin.
Arcade Fire – Funeral
