January’s Record Club: BOWIE ON VINYL

On January 8th 2014, David Bowie celebrates his 67th birthday. On January 9th 2014, Glossop Record Club celebrates David Bowie (I haven’t told him yet).

2014 also marks 50 years since he released his first record. We may give that an airing on the night…

We’ll definitely be playing two Bowie albums on vinyl and in full. His 1971 classic Hunky Dory will be one of those. The other will be one of the so-called ‘Berlin trilogy’Low, “Heroes” and Lodger. To choose which one will be played in full at the session, please cast your vote in the poll below.

Alongside rarities and classic tracks, we’ll also play records with a Bowie connection. It could be artists he’s worked with (Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, Mick Ronson…), the original of a song he’s covered or a cover of a Bowie song by another artist. Plenty to go at there.

And if you want to bring your favourite Bowie (or Bowie-related) records along, we’ll give those a spin too. Even if it’s Tin Machine, the Labyrinth soundtrack or The Laughing Gnome.
